Qi for Horses
Medical Qi Gong therapy, as taught in the lineage of Grand Master Hong Liu, can aid in injury recovery, illness, and conditions that are not responding to traditional veterinary care alone. Qi can strengthen your horse’s innate healing potential and when used as a preventative therapy can greatly increase longevity and vitality. The goal of a Qi treatment is to correct the bio-energetic imbalances, or blockages, in the patient so as to strengthen and regulate the nervous and immune systems, internal organs and body tissues, balance emotions and relieve pain. Medical Qi Gong works with the same meridian lines and points as acupuncture but without needles, allowing the whole being to rebalance for optimal health and happiness. The healing art of Qi gong draws upon the energy of nature, the elements, and the universe to transform the physical, mental, and emotional bodies. Horses are highly sensitive and responsive to this form of energy medicine. This may be because Qi is comforting and familiar in that it is sourced from nature rather than a man-made device.
healing potential without side effects
Medical Qi Gong, or Chinese Energy Medicine, is a specialized form of energy medicine and one of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine which include acupuncture, herbal medicine, qi massage and diet (nutritional medicine). It is based on the Chinese medical view of the body, its channels, vital substances, and energy centers. This holistic philosophy views health as a state of harmony or balance existing between the internal environment of the being and the external environment it lives in. Stress, physical injury, infectious organisms, poor nutrition, seasonal changes and the aging process are capable of disrupting this state of harmony. The goal of a “Qi Session” is to correct bio-energetic imbalances and blockages and restore the flow of energy through the body’s energy channels, cells, tissues, and organs. This strengthens the body’s efforts to heal or to be in a state of optimum health.
“Jackie’s Qi energy and massage techniques effectively address issues with remarkably fast results. Wilson’s movements became noticeably smoother and more free post-therapy and he loves the time she spends with him. Her approach is transformative.”
-Debbie King, author and reiner
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A QI SESSION
A “Qi session” consists of the practitioner first sensing and then directly influencing the Qi of another being. The treatment begins with recognizing Qi imbalances and blockages through a Qi assessment. This involves observing the energy patterns around the surface of the body and then running the hands over the channels, or meridians, to determine specific information about their state. These meridians are found close to the surface of the body on the limbs and flow deeper within the trunk of the body to the internal organs. The meridians are the pathways that Qi moves through. Throughout the assessment, information about the physical, mental and emotional aspects of the horse are intuited. Next, the Qi imbalance is corrected through the appropriate technique. A purging technique is used to cleanse and purify the body's energetic fields and to remove pathogenic, toxic, or stagnant Qi. A tonifying technique is used to emit healthy Qi into deficient areas and to gather and store excess in the body’s reservoirs, known as the extraordinary vessels. A regulation technique is used to circulate the Qi in order to open places of stagnation and blockage to promote a healthy, unobstructed flow of life force energy in the body. As Qi flows freely, it becomes healthier, clearer and more potent. This Qi then moves into areas of dis-ease or distress. Sometimes the change is immediate. Chronic conditions may require additional treatment and time.
