Qi horse

Jackie Pelosi-Harris is a certified equine sports massage and Qi Gong practitioner based in Big Sur, CA. Her approach integrates the science and precision of Wilson Meagher Sports Therapy with the art of intuition and energy(Qi).  She draws on both sports massage and Medical Qi Gong to support performance, recovery, and the overall well-being of the horse.

Jackie trained under four-time Olympic U.S. Eventing Team physiotherapist,  Jo-Ann Wilson.   She is currently Jo-Ann’s West Coast affiliate and assists in teaching the Wilson Meagher Method of equine sports massage at the Downeast School of Massage in Maine.  Her experience spans equine athletes across multiple disciplines and levels of sport, including U.S. Eventing Team horses, Kentucky Three-Day contenders, Grand Prix competitors, and Tevis endurance athletes.

Jackie undertook a traditional apprenticeship in Chinese energy medicine with Grand Master Hong Liu.  Over 16 years of study and practice with Master Hong, she treated both humans and animals, and became his only apprentice specifically trained to work with horses.  She carries forward a rare and authentic lineage of Qi Gong, uniquely adapted to equine care.

Jackie brings over 20 years of experience in energy medicine, massage, and veterinary emergency and critical care nursing.  She is a licensed RVT in California, holds a B.Sc. in pre-veterinary medicine from the University of Connecticut, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Equine Science at the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

She is also a longtime student of Ray Berta, a respected Carmel Valley horseman mentored by Tom Dorrance, whose influence continues to shape the quality of presence and awareness she brings to every horse she works with. Jackie travels regularly between the Central Coast and Southern California to provide care for her equine clients.

Science - intuition -  Energy

“She meets the horse where they are and knows how to free up physical restrictions. Jackie is a master at working with the deeper energy systems to bring the horse into balance”

Equine Care services

  • Equine Sports Massage

The foundation of this work is in improving the overall well-being and contentment of your horse through restoring complete ease of motion and freedom in the body. The most overlooked factor in diminished performance is simple muscle tightness. While all horses have the same muscular anatomy and physiology, specific muscle groups are emphasized differently in the various disciplines and levels. The Wilson Meagher Method™ of equine sports massage employs the application of an anatomically accurate series of soft tissue techniques to restore complete freedom and ease of movement in the equine body. This method identifies stress points in the muscle and then through its techniques, alleviates muscle restriction, tightness and pain. This work is specific to the cause of the muscular problem while treating the entire body.

  • Qi for horses

Medical Qi Gong works with the same meridians (energy lines), points and energy centers as acupuncture without needles, to enhance physical vitality and overall well-being. A deep level of understanding and healing can be achieved through this therapy. A “Qi treatment” incorporates massage and energy techniques to regulate the flow of bio-electromagnetic energy in the body. The result of this work is direct communication with the energetic, physical, and emotional bodies of the horse. The goal of a qi treatment is to correct bio-energetic imbalances and restore the flow of energy through the body’s cells, tissues, and organs. The strengthening of energy flow enhances the horse’s healing potential and increases physical vitality. Qi can be directed into specifIc areas of the horse’s body to support recovery from injury or illness as an adjunct to conventional veterinary care.

*Medical Qi Gong is not veterinary medicine and does not replace veterinary care.
